Biography
Dr. Justo Maqueira, Jr was the first physician trained and approved to perform da Vinci Robotic Gynecologic procedures in this area. Since his first da Vinci Robotic hysterectomy in February 2007 he has completed over 400 procedures using the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, making him the most experienced gynecologic da Vinci surgeon in this area. Currently Dr. Maqueira is the only gynecologic physician in this area qualified to Proctor with Intuitive Surgical on the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Since proctoring his first case in July 2007 he has instructed over 100 Gynecologic cases using the daVinci Robotic System around the country. He has a special interest in complex minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
Dr. Justo Maqueira Jr.’s education began at the University of Miami. He attended Miami for 3 years before transferring to the University of South Florida in Tampa. There he completed his Bachelors of Science. Dr. Maqueira continued his studies at the University of South Florida College of Medicine where he graduated with his Doctorate in Medicine in 1992. In 1996, he completed the Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1999 Dr. Maqueira received his Board certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
During his career Dr. Maqueira has served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bay Medical Center and Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, Florida and Mease Dunedin Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He served as a preceptor in gynecology at the Bayfront Medical Center Residency program in St. Petersburg, Florida. He has served on the Physicians Advisory Team at Bay Medical Center as well as several other task forces in South Florida.
Dr. Maqueira moved from Tampa, Florida to Panama City in 2002 to begin his own practice. After practicing on his own for 2 years he joined Coastal OB/GYN in 2003. In February of 2011 Dr. Maqueira joined HCA and formed Gulf Coast Women's Services located at 2202 State Avenue, Suite 207. Dr. Maqueira is married. He and his wife have 5 children. He enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and riding his motorcycle.
